چکیده

In this research scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), Eastern beech (Fagus orientelis L.), oak (Quercus petraea L.) samples have been covered with polyurethane, acrylic, cellulosic varnish. In order to determine the physical changes which occurred on varnish layers caused by steam and wet heat, the samples were exposed to TS 4982 EN 12721 wet heat and TS EN 438-2 steam. According the results, the most strength to steam was observed in the polyurethane varnish applied on beech material. The least strength was observed on cellulosic varnish applied on beech. The most strength to wet heat was observed on acrylic varnish applied on beech and oak. The least strength was determined on cellulosic varnish applied on beech and oak. As a result, in furniture which will be used in the environments containing wet heat and steam, the use of beech and oak as the wooden material and polyurethane and acrylic varnish as the protector layer can be recommended.
